The roads of Bangalore have turned into one big art gallery. BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike.) has transformed the ugly walls of Bangalore in to huge canvases for painters to paint. Select walls along the main roads are getting a lovely facelift with the paintings of animals, flower motifs, heritage building of Karnataka, famous personalities, lovely landscapes and even traditional warli art. You can see it on the roads of Bangalore for free.
The BBMP website says that this move will make the mundane walls get a character of its own and also will be pleasing to the eyes of motorists and commuters travelling on the road. GoBangalore certifies that the paintings are such a pleasure to see.
The plan kick started on August 15, 2009 and include all prime locations of the city. On the occasion, the BBMP Commissioner, Mr. Bharat Lal Meena said, "This Independence Day Bangalore will wake up to a colourful morning, with walls painted with different colourful designs. This initiative is a part our Bangalore beautification exercise and we hope that people will appreciate and support BBMP”.
The beautification process is a well planned project. The walls of schools schools and colleges will carry educational paintings that the children and students can relate to and recall easily. The walls alongside airport road will have pictures of India’s tourist places to educate the tourists, Kanakapura road will have the stencil paintings of nature and Bannerghatta road will have pictures of animals. (GoBangalore says “Three Cheers to BBMP”)
With this effort, traffic jams are less irritating and the bus rides a pleasant experiences. We are sure BBMP has more in store for Bangaloreans, and on behalf of all Bangaloreans, GoBangalore would like to say that they are highly appreciated and “Keep them Coming baby!”
