Cities are growing Rapidly. Urban space for gardening is shrinking. Growing Gardens on roof tops is fast becoming an option for gardening & recreation limited space productively. Urban centers are growing & likely to have nearly 50% of the national population in towns and cities. In pursuit of the safer food more urban residents are looking for an opportunity to grow what they eat. In this context, Organic Terrace Gardening costitute a growing trend.
Presently, as an urban initiative, organic terrace gardening is being promoted by a few enthusiastic individuals and service minded Civil Society Organizations. For instance, in Bangalore, traditionally known as Garden City, Organic terrace gardening is gaining importance. Under the guidance of Dr. B.N. Vishwanath, AME Foundation has been involved in promoting urban home garden training.
The National Seminar on Organic Terrace Gardening is happening on the 9th and 10th September 2010 at the convention center, UAS Alumni Association, Hebbal, Bangalore - 24.
