The main objectives and services offered by the forest department are:

1. To maintain the ecological balance in the Bangalore city. The division is taking up afforestation activities by planting saplings along road sides, open spaces, institution premises, Schools and Colleges premises etc.,

2. To create awareness about greenary among the public Vanamahotsava programmes are conducted by involving Hon’ble Ministers/MLA’s/Local Residence/Residential Organization/Private Institutions/Schools and Colleges etc.,

3. Distribution of Seedlings to the Publics to create awareness about greenary.

4. The removal of dead and decayed trees which are obstructing and found dangerous to the public life and also for various

developmental activities like widening of roads, development of Underpasses, Metro Rail projects, etc.

5. Transplanting of Healthy trees which are to be removed for various developmental works.
